Volunteering
Kings Gap State Park is always looking for volunteers interested in helping with a variety of park projects and programs. Volunteer opportunities include:
- Trail Maintenance
- Garden Maintenance
- Landscaping
- Day Camp Instruction
- Docent at Cameron-Masland Mansion
- Cavity Nesting Bird Monitoring
Our volunteer calendar will be some soon with volunteer opportunities for the coming season.
To become a volunteer, complete and submit the online Conservation Volunteer Application. For more information, call the park office at (717) 486-3799 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Volunteering for FOKG Events and Programs
Friends of Kings Gap relies on its members to help with the numerous events that take place on the mountain like Music on the Mountain, Garden Harvest Day, and more. Members and others interested in volunteering at these events can go to the FOKG Group page on SignUp.com, which makes it easy (really easy!) for you to sign up for events and to see upcoming volunteer opportunities. Simply select the event you want to help with, and then choose how you would like to help out.
Logging Volunteer Hours in the Conservation Volunteers Tracking System
It is important for volunteers to regularly enter their volunteer hours in the Conservation Volunteers Tracking System. This ensures that both DCNR and FOKG can be eligible for grant funding for future projects. Also, the mileage associated with your volunteer activities may be tax deductible. Log in to the tracking system here. Instructions for using the tracking system can be found here.
Donations
We would love to have you as a member of the Friends of Kings Gap! If you aren’t ready to volunteer but want to help, you can support the park with your tax-deductible donation. We will be sure to put your money to good use on park projects to help maintain our beautiful park.
Click here to donate online. When the Donation page appears you may continue without logging in.
Donations can also be made by check made payable to “PPFF” with “FOKG Donation” on the memo line and brought or mailed to the park office (500 Kings Gap Rd, Carlisle, PA 17015-9306).
Thanks for your help!
